Organic patterns derived from plant specimens and Industrial patterns derived from machines
I combined several plant specimens to make this pattern.
I derived this shape from printingpress gear.

Process:
I took specimens of plants and combined them in several ways so that I could find the best mixture of shapes and composition of pattern. I transferred these patterns to 4x4 squares and I repeated the pattern into 8x8 square. From there, I repeated 8x8 square four times so that it creates 18x18 square of repeated patterns.
Looking at negative spaces are very interesting.

I've been progressing through the drawing pages and have found that I am renewing my skills with time. This is the first drawing I did:
And these are the two latest:
I am also experimenting with styles of gradient with the lines. All of these are continuous line contours (overlapping means inner and outer, right?) as I did in Mrs. Shepp's class. I'm paying more attention to the overall shape of the object, and I think that last hand might capture it better than filling in more as in the previous one. I also wrote brief reflections after each drawing...
I've also done some weaving, but I don't have photos of those pieces yet. I think I'll have to use the printer at school and retroactively place some images in my IWB...
