Now that the first-years are well into the Scale and Multiples project, my senses are tuned in to possibilities. I hung some samples from an industrial design magazine on the bulletin boards today, of bathroom modules that are interchangeable! Here is a fantastic public art piece. See more about it on the link.http://pslowe.com/public-art-grass-roots-square/

Sunny Pojdl #3

Spiderman: I like to mess around a little when I draw. Here is a drawing of spiderman helping a "damsel in distress".

Old photograph: I found some old photographs and decided to add my own twist to them.

Scissors: here is another drawing of something around me, unlike the sharpie one, i used shading for this one.

Graffiti: This is part of my "what inspires me" section in my sketchbook. I based this work off of some graffiti that I saw in Brazil because I am not very good at drawing graffiti type pieces.

Sharpie: The sharpie is part of my observational drawings, it is my favorite out of the four other miscellaneous objects that I drew. I really like how simple it is because of the lack of shading and color.

Skull: I saw this skull in a magazine and I really like how it turned out. I used the 6B pencil and so far it is my favorite pencil to draw with.

Hands and Feet

Here are some drawings of my Feet and Hand! Discovered my favorite pencil to draw with would have to be 4B. I've never been in an art class before so, I never used anything other than a number 2 pencil to doodle! So I've been testing out all of my new different ones. I like the pencils that have less forgiveness and are darker, I used 4B on my last drawing of the Peace sign hand. Hope everyone enjoys their last days of summer! <3 Cali
This is a drawing of my clunched fist. I tried to add some shading to make it more three-deminsonal.

Grading rubric for summer assignment: HL2

I will collect IWBs from  HL2 students on the first day of class.  This rubric shows you how I will grade your summer assignment.  If you did more than the minimum expectations, I will surely give you credit for that as well!

I am looking forward to seeing you all next week!

Art That I've Done In the Past! Love, Em :)

This was after practicing body shapes and trying to realistically depict legs and arms. It went with another drawing that showed an opposite emotion. This was about 2 or 3 years ago. There isn't any shading!!

This is more recent. I draw or write when I'm upset, and I was feeling lonely when I created this. I like the dimensions I used. The figure still doesn't have any shading!

This drawing is one of my favorites! I started shading to put some depth into the fabric and body. The hair is the best part though :)

Again, an emotional piece. The frog represents me and the 3 different scenes are things that seemed to be going wrong for me at the time. The hair in the bottom right came out well and the highlights and lowlights were an improvement.

Hi! My name is Em. I am in the middle of gathering some old artwork to post here, but wanted to get my blog post up. I prefer to sketch, but I've painted in the past as well. I'm looking forward to maybe expanding my artistic abilities this year :)

DECAY

Tree leafs and Charcoal on Canvas
by Jae Hoon Jang

Pollution is the main theme of the work. Sad face symbolizes tree's silent suffering from pollutions. The reason why there are more negative spaces than positive spaces is because I wanted to express the emptiness. Which will enrich the symbolism of tree's suffering. Since organic material of leafs were used, the work will show the process of decaying such as color changes. Decaying process will also enrich the main theme of pollution and suffering tree.
